PRP Injections — Use Your Body's Own Healing Signal
Platelet-rich plasma harvested from your own blood, concentrated and injected into the joint or tendon that needs it. A non-surgical option for stubborn arthritis and tendon injuries — delivered in our Ormond Beach office.

What PRP Actually Is
PRP — platelet-rich plasma — is the part of your blood richest in growth factors. We draw a small sample from your arm, spin it in a centrifuge to isolate the platelets, and inject the concentrated layer directly into the area we're trying to heal. Because it's your own tissue, there's no risk of rejection and no foreign substances introduced. The growth factors signal your body to repair the joint or tendon at the cellular level, instead of just numbing the pain.
Conditions We Treat
PRP Injections is most effective for these conditions. If you're unsure whether it fits your situation, that's what the evaluation is for.
- Knee osteoarthritis
- Shoulder osteoarthritis
- Rotator cuff tears and tendinopathy
- Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
- Golfer's elbow (medial epicondylitis)
Double-Spun PRP — Higher Concentration, Same Sample
We use a double-spin centrifuge protocol, which isolates a more concentrated platelet layer than a single-spin draw. Higher platelet concentration means more growth-factor signal delivered to the injection site from a single visit — which is part of why most patients only need one round of treatment.
What to Expect
- 1
Evaluation & Imaging Review
We examine the joint, review any imaging you have, and confirm PRP is the right fit. If the underlying tissue can't respond to PRP — for example, a complete rotator cuff tear — we'll tell you honestly and discuss other options.
- 2
Blood Draw
A small sample is drawn from your arm in-office. The whole process takes a few minutes.
- 3
Centrifuge & Concentration
The sample is spun twice to isolate the platelet-rich layer. We prepare it on-site so the injection happens right after the draw — no shipping, no waiting.
- 4
Targeted Injection
We inject the concentrated PRP directly into the joint or tendon, often using ultrasound guidance to ensure the right placement.
- 5
Recovery & Follow-Up
Most patients are sore for about a week — that's normal and actually a sign the platelets are working. We follow up to track your progress and decide whether a second round is warranted.
The Practical Stuff
Number of sessions
Most patients need a single PRP treatment per area. A second round is occasionally used about six weeks later if response is partial.
Downtime
Plan for about a week of moderate soreness after the injection — this is expected. We typically recommend reducing impact activity for the first 5–7 days and resuming your normal routine as the soreness fades.
Insurance & cost
PRP is not covered by insurance. We don't publish specific pricing online — every case is different — but we'll be upfront about cost during your evaluation. Care Credit financing is available if you'd like to spread the payment.
Pairing PRP with Real Rehab
An injection alone isn't a complete treatment. We pair PRP with therapeutic exercise and modalities like shockwave therapy or cold laser when appropriate, so the relief from the injection is reinforced by stronger surrounding tissue. This is what makes the relief last instead of fading after a few months.
Common Questions
How soon will I feel a difference?+
Most patients notice improvement over 4–6 weeks as the growth factors do their work. Some report changes in the first 2 weeks; others take longer. PRP is regenerative, not anesthetic — it's working even when you don't feel it yet.
Is there downtime?+
Plan for about a week of moderate soreness. You can usually walk and do light daily activities right away, but we recommend avoiding high-impact activity for 5–7 days while the inflammation settles.
Will insurance cover it?+
No. PRP is considered investigational by most insurers and isn't covered. Care Credit financing is available if cost is a concern.
What if PRP doesn't work for me?+
We talk honestly during evaluation about the likelihood of response based on your imaging and condition. If PRP isn't a strong fit, we'll tell you before you commit. If you've had it and the response was partial, we discuss whether a second round, stem cell therapy, or a different path makes sense.
Do I need a referral?+
